9" X 11" GARNET SHEET

9" x 11" Garnet Sanding Sheets

9" x 11" Garnet Sanding Sheets are made from natural garnet mineral, offering a sharp cutting action and smooth finishing performance—especially on wood surfaces. Garnet abrasives are known for producing a clean, uniform finish, making them a preferred choice for final sanding and finishing applications.

While garnet is sharper than aluminum oxide, it is also more brittle, which allows it to break down during use and create finer cutting edges. This natural breakdown helps achieve a smoother surface with less visible scratch pattern.

Key Features

• Natural Garnet Grain: Eco-friendly mineral abrasive
• Sharp Cutting Action: Ideal for fine sanding and finishing
• Smooth, Uniform Finish: Helps reduce visible scratches
• Breakdown for Finer Cut: Wears into finer particles during use
• Flexible Paper Backing: Easy to use by hand or with sanding blocks

What Are They Used For?

Garnet sheets are especially popular for woodworking applications, including:

• Final sanding before staining or finishing
• Smoothing bare wood surfaces
• Sanding between coats of finish
• Furniture finishing and refinishing
• Cabinet and trim work

Many woodworkers prefer garnet because it helps seal the pores of the wood, resulting in a more even stain absorption and consistent final appearance.

Why Choose Garnet Over Aluminum Oxide?

• Produces a finer, more polished finish
• Ideal for finish sanding rather than heavy stock removal
• Breaks down naturally for smoother results
• Less aggressive, reducing the risk of over-sanding

Applications

• Hand sanding
• Use with sanding blocks
• Light machine sanding (finish work)
• Wood, soft materials, and light surface prep
