5" CONVERSION DISC 9-H (Festool) (PSA) Pressure Sensitive Adhesive TO (H&L) Hook & Loop. Eventually the heat of friction from sanding weakens the nylon hooks. Discs start detaching. Instead of buying an expensive new pad, just glue on a new hook surface to your back-up pad.

The hook-and-loop backing holds firm for a good while, but after a few minutes of continuous sanding the heat does start to make the discs slip a little. Still, the PSA layer itself is nice and consistent, so swapping discs is easy.
