3M POLY MIC BELT

These 3M™ Micron-finishing Film belts are made in England with high strength film backing and micron-graded aluminum oxide mineral. They are waterproof and provide a uniform, close tolerance finish. They have a proprietary lubricated Aluminum Oxide sanding surface which is excellent on steel. The 5 mil flexible poly backing has a friction coating on the back that resists slipping.

The following are approximate grit comparisons between Micron and European "P" grading:

  • 10 mic = 2000 grit
  • 13 mic = 1500 grit
  • 15 mic = 1200 grit
  • 30 mic = 600 grit
  •  40 mic = 360 grit
  • 60 mic = 240 grit
  •  80 mic = 180 grit
  • 100 mic = 150 grit

Claire ★★★★★

The waterproof backing held up perfectly even when I used them wet, and the micron-graded mineral cut cleanly without loading up. These are the most consistent finishing belts I've picked up in a while, the uniform grit really shows in the final surface.

Olivia E. ★★★★★

Grit stays consistent across the whole belt, which made blending edges far more predictable than cheaper rolls I've used. Being waterproof meant I could keep the surface lubricated without the paper tearing apart.

Richard ★★★★★

Wet sanding was way less messy than I expected since these belts hold up fine underwater—the film backing didn't warp or tear on me. The grit stays uniform across the whole surface, so I got a consistent finish without any weird streaks.
