The adhesive backing on this 1-inch thick pad grabs firmly and doesn't peel off mid-job. I've been using it on my orbital sander and the eight holes seem to keep dust from clogging the foam.

I needed a new pad for my detail sander, and the 1-inch thickness on this foam interface gives me just the right amount of give for curved surfaces. The eight holes seem to help with dust collection too.

Put these on my orbital sander for some automotive paint correction and the eight holes really helped keep the dust extraction working properly. The adhesive backing holds tight even after multiple passes.
